Oyster began with a desire to capture the pale beauty of an oyster mushroom. I wanted to explore their softness and strangeness, delicate gills and milky white flesh and also understand the unique notes of its scent.
The result is a mix of waxy aldehydes that give the perfume its luminous character, while soft floral notes and hints of rose meet creamy lactones and Octanol to suggest the mushroom’s delicate flesh. To me, it feels likethe pale colour and spongey texture of Oyster mushrooms merge in this fragrance.
Working with Jana nicole on the artwork brought another dimension to that exploration, bringing scent and image together as an invitation to look closer at the fungal world.
